Band of Kazimierz
They were a bunch of people, about 10 girls and boys, about 18 years old, who met very often. Abraham Mojżesz Waks was one of them, and they stayed in touch even when he lived in France. He got about 100 letters from his Lublin friends. They were sent mostly by his girlfriend Cesia Kestelman. She wrote: “We went to the club and played lotto. I won enough money, so I can pay the post stamp for the letter”. There are the letters from Cesia but inside these letters notes from other members of the “band” were put. All of them wrote a little bit, maybe two lines. The names appearing often were Witek, Tobiasz, Grażynka, Dawid and Gienia: “Basia sends kisses”, “Witek says hello”.
They used to go on holidays to Kazimierz Dolny together, and therefore they called themselves “The Band of Kazimierz”.
