Warunki sanitarno-higieniczne w getcie wymusiły na Judenracie utworzenie Szpitala Epidemicznego w lokalu dawnej kaszarni przy ul. Ruskiej 21*. Do tej chwili Żydzi chorzy na choroby zakaźne lokowani byli na specjalnym oddziale w Szpitalu im. Jana Bożego przy ul. Bonifraterskiej.
