Przedstawiciele PKWN starali nakłonić Cholewę i jego współpracowników do zerwania z rządem polskim na emigracji oraz do podjęcia współpracy z PKWN-em. Józef Dolina „Zych” tak opisał to spotkanie: [Drobner – red.] tłumaczył nam, że powinniśmy realnie i z poczuciem odpowiedzialności spojrzeć na rzeczywistość, zapomnieć o swych mocodawcach z Londynu i przystąpić do swej pracy razem z nimi. Propozycje te zostały odrzucone.
