The "Lamp of Memory"
The symbolic “eternal lamp” – one of the last pre-war street lamps in Lublin.
One of the forms of commemoration of the non-existent Jewish district is lighting a symbolic “eternal lamp” – one of the last pre-war street lamps in Lublin. The lamp shines day and night. Being lit twenty-four hours a day, it recalls and commemorates the Jewish district in Lublin and its inhabitants. This lamp is an evidence of our Memory. It was lit in autumn 2004 during the Mystery entitled “Poem of the Place”, an artistic event prepared by the “Grodzka Gate – NN Theatre” Centre. Since this moment, the lamp has become an important element in other actions of the Centre.
