Impressions after the EVS in the Grodzka Gate
About my life after Lublin. When I came from Lublin, I stayed around 3 months in France, taking some time to think about what I wanted to do, my future and applied for different jobs. And I have decided to continue to travel.
Finally I got accepted in a new volunteer project in December, in Dublin, Ireland. This new project was more in relation with my field (I'm graduated as a social worker) and my project in Dublin was with persons with intellectual disability.
So, in January I moved in Ireland for 10 months. And now, I'm still in Dublin, I have just started a new job here, few weeks ago, in my field (social work) and I will maybe stay here for a while.
It was interesting for me to be involved in this structure and to see so many interesting things. In the professional way of thinking, it was useful for me mainly to see all the organization and all the cultural activities. But, in the personal way for me, it was more useful because Brama Grodzka gave me the opportunity to come in their structure, even if it was not my field, and their country. These 6 months gave me a lot of lessons about adaptation, knowledge, hospitality and freedom. It was a really intense experience for me to come in a country for 6 months without speaking Polish at all, with a poor English and in the cultural area. But my 2 mentor were very helpfull and I'm really gratefull for that.
Now, I'm back in my professionnal area but this experience gave me the courage to do what I wanted to do and the love of the Polish culture and langage, and now I'm connected with Poland because I have a lot of contact with the Polish community in Dublin.I came in Lublin, in April 2013 untill October 2013. I was the Second choice for this project, initially another girl who spoke Polish and French was suppose to come but she cancelled and finally never came. So, they had to adapt the project to my profile. I helped about the project ''Historia Mowiona'', I had to transcript some French interview. And I helped about some French translation and different festival (Storytelling and Sladami Singera).
