Isaac Bashevis Singer

Picturesque towns and villages of Lublin Region were favourite settings for stories of Nobel Prize winner Isaac Bashevis Singer. He was an exceptional writer whose works have made this beautiful region famous. Through his stories names of towns as Tyszowce, Szczebrzeszyn, Józefów, Biłgoraj, or Lublin are known throughout the world.

Within the framework of the project we embark on a magical journey in an attempt to find and restore the unusual atmosphere of the towns known from I. B. Singer's short stories.

Activities

Implementation of the project consists of two main components: workshops in towns and Festival "Following I. B. Singer's Traces".

Workshops are held in each town with participation of the local community, with particular emphasis on youth and adults interested in the promotion of local heritage. Activities realized during these meetings are inspired by the works of I. B. Singer and by the local history and heritage.

In July an extraordinary journey through the towns of Lublin Region begins. The colorful, international group of artists - dancers, musicians, actors, circus performers, photographers and culture animators - together with the local community conduct cultural activities and create a unique program based on the tradition, culture and history - the program of the Festival "Following I. B. Singer's Traces", thereby restoring the magical atmosphere of towns described by Isaac Bashevis Singer.
